Summary 

Over three days you will experience the beauty of West Bali and meet villagers from different walks of life - including a group of farmers who came together to grow cacao and make their own chocolate, a woman who makes her own virgin coconut oil using a secret recipe of 11 kinds of coconuts, a community of villagers who raise gurami (freshwater fish) in the middle of their rice terraces, and a talented family of artists. This experience includes pick up and drop off from/to Kuta or Ubud and two nights’ accommodation in a beach-side hotel in West Bali.

Itinerary

Day 1

8:45am - Pick up in Ubud
OR
10am - Pick up in Kuta

10am - Journey to West Bali - stop on the way to learn about the traditional Balinese rice irrigation system

12:30pm - Lunch at a beach-side cafe and time to swim at the beach

1:30pm - Arrive at Sea Medewi Resort and check-in

2:30pm - Afternoon of free time - swim at the beach or pool, bask in the sun, get a massage (price of massage is extra)

5:30pm - Welcome dinner and orientation to West Bali (at Sea Medewi Resort)

Day 2

8am - Pick up from hotel

9am - Learn the process of preparing hand-painted batik and have a go yourself

11am - Learn to weave traditional coconut baskets - have a go yourself and take one home with you

12:30pm - Visit a family of artists, spend time making art and music with them (lunch included)

2pm - Visit a coconut-sugar maker, hear stories of entrepreneurship and day-to-day village life

3:30pm - Return to Sea Medewi Resort

4pm - Free time to relax and experience the area for yourself. Dinner options include: Sea Medewi Restaurant, Bombora Wave Lodge, Jl Pantai Medewi, Puri Dajuma Beach Eco-Resort and Suito's Bamboo Terrace (dinner is at your own expense)

Day 3

8:30am - Pick up from hotel (guests to have already checked out)

9am - Visit a cacao farm and chocolate factory - have a go yourself and enjoy samples

10:30am - Visit an organic mushroom farm to observe the processes and taste the mushrooms

11:30am - Visit a coconut oil production site and learn about the 11 different types of coconuts Bu Sukma uses to make her coconut oil

12:30pm - Visit an organic fish farm and enjoy lunch there

2pm: Travel by boat down the river, through a light jungle, and explore the plants and animals living in the river and in the jungle (this activity is pending weather and climate conditions, should it be unavailable, a suitable alternate activity will be offered)

3:30pm: Return to Kuta or Ubud (approximatly 3 hours drive)

Some activities are weather dependent and in extreme weather situations, some activities may not be able to be offered. Five Pillar Foundation may provide reasonable and appropriate substitute activities in the event that planned activities are unavailable.
